mustang polyurethane
Why polyurethane? We have been selling replacement polyurethane bushings for years and we just recently realized we have a new generation of Mustangers who may not understand the benefits of upgrading to polyurethane.

Polyurethane is a polymerized rubber that self lubricates and resists collapse under load. All moving suspension parts use some type of bushing. Bushings assist the moving part by allowing movement and insulation of road noise. The least amount of allowed movement results in quicker response of the moving part. Let's take a sway bar for example. As your car makes a turn, the load is transferred to the sway bar / bushing mount. On a factory rubber equipped assembly, the sway bar will react only when rubber is totally compressed. If this vehicle was equipped with a polyurethane bushing, the bushing would not compress and the sway bar would react immediately. This may seem minute, but on a vehicle with many moving suspension parts the difference between rubber and polyurethane is noticeable.

Another benefit to polyurethane is extended bushing life. Polyurethane will not deteriorate from oil, road salt, heat or ozone as rubber does. The modern polyurethane bushing is impregnated with graphite to assist in self lubrication. We have found out that all Mustangs can benefit from polyurethane suspension upgrades, from street to race car applications.

Below are some examples of Polyurethane bushings and their benefits:
mustang sway bar

Sway bar end links and Bar bushings:

Immediate sway bar reaction reduces deflection, which creates instant response through better handling on corners. Sway bar bushings come with heavy duty zinc plated brackets.

Strut Rod bushings:

Strut rods take all of the fore-aft loads in the front end. Polyurethane bushings improve handling and braking response.

Leaf spring front and rear bushings:

All engine torque is transferred through leaf springs during acceleration and braking. Polyurethane bushings resist compression and allow the leaf spring to react immediately.

You will notice immediate driving improvements with the replacement of oe style rubber bushings with Polyurethane bushings.
