Classic 1965 to 1973 Mustang Seat Upholstery
Restoring a classic Mustang has never been easier and more interesting now that numerous styles and combinations of upholstery are available. 1965-1973 Standard Upholstery
Standard upholstery is the most common Mustang interior. Mustang's that were not deluxe models normally had a standard interior style. Colors other than black feature a two-tone color combination. For example, a blue interior would have light blue trim with a dark blue insert. Exclusive for 1966 standard upholstery were inserts made with a "comfort weave" (rossette) material. Seat frames are the same for 1965 to 1967, so it is possible to install 1965 style upholstery in a 1967 if that was your choice. The only difference is the seat foam; you would need to purchase 1965 seat foam to install 1965 upholstery in a 1967 Mustang. Bench seat interiors were supplied with standard upholstery. All colors and body styles of standard interior are reproduced and readily available.
1965-1966 Deluxe Upholstery
Deluxe is also referred to as "Pony" interior due to the unique running horse embossed pattern on the seat back. The pony interior is probably the most popular Mustang interior style made by Ford. Not only is the seat upholstery unique, the door and kick panels are also very attractive. Add in the wood grain instrument bezel and matching glove box door and you have a very attractive interior combination. We do not think Ford has sold an interior package as attractive as the 1965-1966 Pony interior ever since!
Converting a Standard interior to Pony is a bit complicated. The seat kit is easy; simply purchase pony seat foam to replace the existing standard seat foam. The rest of the pony interior requires more effort. Please see our Pony Door Panel Conversion kit or call our store for more information.
1965-1967 TMI Mustang Sport Seat

1967-1973 Deluxe Upholstery
The deluxe interior kits were found on Mustangs with upgraded interiors, excluding Mach 1. For example: 1967 deluxe interior with the brushed aluminum door and dash trim, 1968 deluxe interior with wood grain door panel and dash trim. Deluxe interior upholstery is made from Corinthian grain trim ruffino (vinyl) or a combination of comfort weave and ruffino inserts. Deluxe seats also featured a unique chrome trim button on the seat back. Most colors and combinations of deluxe upholstry are now available.
1969-1973 Mach 1 Upholstery
1969-1973 Mach 1 upholstery is different from deluxe interiors, the Mach 1 Mustang featured it's own distinctive interior. The most visual feature are the Deluxe door panels and Mach 1 carpet set. The instrument panel and glove box dash were wood grain to match the inserts in the Mach 1 door panels. We offer all items required to repair or replace 1969-1970 Mach 1 door panels.
